Huffman’s is an expressive modern ale with its roots firmly placed in the English Best Bitter style. The ingredients are characteristically classic: all UK hop varieties from Hukins Hops and UK grown malt provide the balanced backbone of the beer. Toffee, dried dark fruits, fresh tea leaf and spicy flavours all combine and reveal at the finish that expected crisp and slightly roasted bitterness. But there’s a twist: it's a twangy Best Bitter for sure! A lower starting pH alongside citrus and bramble flavours from malt, hop and pushed yeast esters, all amount to an up front fruitiness which balances the big bitterness beautifully. A complex selection of UK heritage crystal malts and a load of Maris Otter build the sweet and malty base of the beer. Challenger hops give the smooth bitterness. Bramling Cross, accompanying the timeless duo of Goldings & Fuggles, are the finishing hops and create the quintessential aromatics and flavour we've come to expect from the style.
